Abbiamo voluto raccontare una storia, una piccola storia.
Comincia in una città italiana, dove Sini e Roy, una giovane coppia indiana, lavora duramente.
Continua in Kerala, dove, con una grande disponibilità e gentilezza Sini e Roy ci hanno permesso di seguirli per qualche giorno di felicità.
Lontano dai clichés, l’India che abbiamo scoperto in loro compagnia è animata, colorata, calorosa, imprevedibile…
Vi incontriamo bambini sorridenti, anziane signore incuriosite, graziose ragazze, giovani innamorati,gente semplice e generosa, che ci hanno accolto, che hanno accettato di condividere il loro quotidiano e che ci hanno talvolta confidato i loro sogni, le loro speranze o le loro inquietudini.
Accompagnati dalla musica e guidati dalle immagini del cinema, abbiamo ripreso le piccole cose di tutti i giorni.
Esse possono apparire insignificanti, ma sono ricche di una verità essenziale: nella banalità degli avvenimenti minori, gli esseri umani si somigliano gli uni agli altri.
Questo film non è solo un racconto di viaggio.
E’ un momento di emozione che speriamo condividere e l’emozione non ha frontiere, è universale.
Abbiamo voluto raccontare una storia, una piccola storia, una storia d’amore.

Lo stile

Appassionati di cinema indiano, gli autori hanno voluto dare al loro documentario uno stile bollywoodiano colorato, talvolta kitsch e stereotipato.
La colonna sonora che ritma lo scorrere delle immagini è tratta da film indiani, recenti e del passato.
Il documentario è stato realizzato con pochi mezzi tecnici, le riprese sono state realizzate con 2 telecamere digitali e la post produzione è stata fatta senza l’aiuto di uno studio professionale.

Gli autori

Claudine Tissier e Fabio Campo vivono e lavorano a Bologna, dove sono insegnanti. Partecipano attivamente alla realizzazione di progetti artistici in diversi campi. Durante numerosi viaggi in Asia hanno realizzato alcuni videoclips. « Sini & Roy » è il loro primo film documentario.

Sini, Roy, il Kerala

Sini ha 30 anni, è cattolica, ha studiato fino all’università (economia e commercio), si è sposata a 19 anni con un matrimonio combinato, non aveva mai visto il marito, ha detto sì ma non era obbligata. E’ arrivata in Italia per lavoro da molti anni, dopo il matrimonio. Ritorna regolarmente in India ogni anno durante le vacanze per ritrovare la famiglia. Ha lavorato e vissuto a Roma e Livorno oltre Bologna. Con il marito però ci sono stati dei problemi. Sta per ottenere il divorzio. Ha una bimba di 5 anni che però è affidata alla famiglia del marito in India. Nel divorzio spera di riprendere con sé la sua bimba. 2 anni fa ha incontrato Roy, con il quale vive e lavora insieme. Per il futuro spera di poter sposare Roy, restare in Italia per altri 3 o 4 anni e poi rientrare in Kerala e aprire un negozio di abbigliamento.

Roy anche ha 30 anni, è cattolico, è in Italia da 5 anni e da allora non è mai rientrato in India. Lavora molto, come Sini, anche oltre 10 ore, unico giorno libero la domenica, per poter aiutare la famiglia, sposare tutte le sue sorelle e costituire un piccolo capitale per aprire un’ attività di trasporto (taxi) in India. Naturalmente spera di potersi sposare con Sini.

Il Kerala è uno stato del sud ovest dell’India. I paesaggi sono tropicali e molto verdi. Il periodo fine giugno e inizio luglio coincide con la stagione delle piogge, ideale per le riprese a patto che i monsoni non siano troppo violenti. Il Kerala è anche la regione di Arundathi Roy, considerata la più grande scrittrice indiana contemporanea, molto impegnata nel versante anti globalizzazione; il suo romanzo più famoso “il Dio delle piccole cose” è ambientato nel suo villaggio natale, a qualche chilometro dal villaggio di Sini.

Synopsis

Nous avons voulu raconter une histoire, une petite histoire.
Elle commence dans une ville italienne, où Sini et Roy, un jeune couple indien, travaillent durement.
Elle se poursuit au Kerala où, avec une disponibilité et une gentillesse sans égal Sini et Roy nous ont permis de les suivre pendant quelques jours de bonheur dans leur pays.
Loin des clichés, l’Inde que nous avons découverte en leur compagnie est vivante, colorée, chaleureuse, imprévisible…
On y rencontre des enfants rieurs, des vieilles dames intriguées, des jeunes filles gracieuses, des jeunes gens amoureux, des gens simples et généreux, qui nous ont accueillis, qui ont accepté de nous faire partager leur quotidien et qui nous ont parfois confié leurs rêves, leurs espoirs ou leurs inquiétudes.
Accompagnés de la musique et guidés par les images de cinéma, nous avons filmé les petites choses de tous les jours.
Elle peuvent sembler insignifiantes, mais elles sont riches d’une vérité essentielle: dans la banalité des événements mineurs, les êtres humains sont semblables les uns aux autres.
Ce film n’est pas seulement un récit de voyage.
C’est un moment d’émotion que nous souhaitons partager et l’émotion n’a pas de frontières, elle est universelle.
Nous avons voulu raconter une histoire, une petite histoire, une histoire d’amour.

Le style

Passionnés de cinéma indien, les réalisateurs ont voulu donner à leur documentaire un style bollywoodien coloré, parfois kitsch et stéréotypé. La bande son qui rythme la succession des images est elle aussi extraite de films indiens, récents et anciens.
Le documentaire a été réalisé avec peu de moyens techniques, les images ont été filmées avec 2 caméscopes numériques et l'édition a été faite sans l'aide d'un studio de montage professionnel.

Les auteurs

Claudine Tissier et Fabio Campo vivent et travaillent à Bologne où ils sont enseignants. Ils participent activement à la réalisations de projets artistiques dans différents domaines. A l'occasion de leurs nombreux voyages en Asie ils ont réalisés plusieurs vidéos clips. « Sini & Roy » est leur premier film documentaire.

Sini, Roy, le Kerala

Sini a 30 ans, elle est catholique et elle a étudié jusqu’à l’université (économie et commerce). A19 ans elle a accepté un mariage arrangé avec un homme qu’elle ne connaissait pas. Immédiatement après le couple est venu vivre et travailler en Italie, successivement à Rome et à Livorno. Malheureusement, après la naissance de sa fille, qui a maintenant 6 ans, sa situation matrimoniale s’est dégradée. Il y a 2 ans, elle a rencontré Roy et quitté son mari. Elle a commencé une procédure de divorce et espère obtenir la garde de sa fille qui vit actuellement en Inde, dans sa belle-famille. Aujourd’hui elle vit et travaille à Bologne, avec Roy. Elle retourne régulièrement au Kerala passer ses vacances dans sa famille. Tant que son divorce n’est pas prononcé, sa relation avec Roy doit rester secrète et sa famille n’en sait rien. Dans le futur Sini espère épouser Roy et retourner vivre au Kerala où elle aimerait avoir un magasin de vêtements.

Roy aussi a 30 ans et il est catholique. Il est en Italie depuis 5 ans et n’est encore jamais retourné en Inde. Comme Sini, il travaille beaucoup, parfois plus de 10 heures par jour, tous les jours, sauf le dimanche, pour pouvoir aider sa famille, payer les dots de ses sœurs et se constituer un pécule qui lui permettra de monter une petite entreprise de taxis en Inde. Naturellement lui aussi espère se marier avec Sini.

L’état du Kerala est situé au sud ouest de l’Inde, il est caractérisé par la présence d’une forte communauté catholique et par une orientation politique traditionnellement communiste. Les paysages tropicaux sont verdoyants grâce à la mousson qui va de juin à août. Le Kerala est aussi la région de naissance d’ Arundathi Roy, considérée comme le plus grand écrivain indien contemporain et aussi icône active dans les luttes contre la mondialisation ; l’action de son roman « Le Dieu des Petits Riens » se déroule dans son village natal, à quelques kilomètres de la maison des parents de Sini.

Synopsis

We would like to tell you a story, a very simple story.
The story starts in an Italian city where Sini and Roy, a young Indian couple, work hard at their jobs.
It then moves on to Kerala, where Sini and Roy so kindly allowed us to accompany them for some happy, unforgettable days.
In their company we discovered an India that was very different from the typical Western clichés: lively, colourful, warm, unpredictable.
We met throngs of smiling children, curious elderly ladies, charming girls, young lovers, simple and generous people who welcomed us, who agreed to share their daily lives with us, sometimes even revealing their dreams, hopes and fears.
Accompanied by music and guided by film images, we filmed the small things in their everyday lives.
They might seem insignificant, but they are rich in the essential truth that in the banality of minor events, human beings are alike.
This video is not just a travel journal.
It’s an emotional space in which to share our feelings with you; feelings which have no boundaries but are universal.
So we’d just like to tell you this story, a simple story, a love story.

The style

The authors, both lovers of Indian cinema, made this documentary in the typical Bollywood style: highly coloured, sometimes kitsch and stereotyped. The soundtrack is taken from various older and more recent Indian movies.
This documentary was produced using a minimum of technical equipment: the shooting was carried out with two digital video cameras and the post-production was carried out without a professional studio.

The authors

Claudine Tissier and Fabio Campo live in Bologna. They are involved in many artistic projects related to different fields. During their many travels to Asia, they have shot many video clips. “Sini & Roy” is their first documentary movie.

Sini, Roy, the state of Kerala

Sini is 30 years old, she is Catholic and has studied economics at university. She got married when she was 19, following the Indian custom of arranged marriages: she had never seen her husband before but she accepted to marry him, although she was not forced to. She came to Italy to work many years ago, after her marriage. The marriage became very difficult and she is now obtaining a divorce. She has a five-year-old girl who is looked after by her husband’s family in India. She hopes to have her daughter back after the divorce. Two years ago she met Roy, with whom she lives and works. In the future she would like to marry him, to stay in Italy for 3 or 4 more years and then go back to Kerala, where she hopes to open a clothes shop. Her family doesn’t know about Roy. Sini is waiting for the divorce to tell her father about him.

Roy is 30 years old as well. He is Catholic and has been in Italy for the last five years. During this period he has never been back to India. He works really hard, just like Sini, often more than 10 hours a day, with only Sundays off. He saves money to help his family and so that his sisters can get married, and to buy a taxi once he gets back to India. He hopes he can marry Sini.

Kerala is a state in the south-western part of India. In this state there is a large Catholic minority and also a high percentage of Communists. The landscape is green and tropical. The period in between the end of June and the beginning of July coincides with the monsoon season. Kerala is the state of Arundathi Roy, the most famous contemporary Indian writer, who is deeply involved in the anti-globalization campaign. Her most famous novel: “The God of Small Things” is set in her home village, just a few kilometres from Sini’s village.
